Merry Felted Christmas - Post Felting

My brother's mittens, before felting and before the addition of unfelted cuffs. The red yarn is cotton and holds a spot in the felt to pick up stitches later. The mittens are finished, but I have to snag my brother long enough to take a picture!

Merry Christmas to ME!

Knitting this soft, fluffy alpaca scarf took me away from what I should have been knitting (presents), but it's sooooo warm and worth it!

A Merry Felted Christmas

My family has requested various felted gifts for the holidays. First up are felted slippers for my dad and one of my brothers. I used Cascade 220 yarn and did some felt swatching over Thanksgiving at my parents' because I have a front-loading washer.

Before felting, a 4 x 4 inch swatch knit on size 11 needles with two strands of yarn.

After felting (on left, a swatch with a single strand; on right, double stranded)

Baby hat

I made this little newborn-sized hat for fun, just to try out a spiraling pattern with yarn overs. I decided it needed a little blue pom pom on top to become the perfect gift for a friend's baby boy, EDD 1/7/2008!
Yarn is Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino.

Organic Cotton Baby Blanket

This blanket is for a friend's son who was born September 17, 2007. This is my first really big knitting project. I adapted a pattern from Last Minute Knitted gifts, which was entirely garter stitch, to include stockinette and a double moss stitch--one knit for each color. I used Blue Sky Organic Cotton, which I'd highly recommend, although I did get some fuzzes in my nose while I knit. It's very soft and fluffy. Ajknitting wisely suggested the applied I-cord border.
